The sun was shining bright over Woodbank Stadium on the 9th of March, 2025, as over 600 athletes gathered for the Hybrid NW Fitness Race – a challenging test of endurance, speed, and strength. As the temperature soared to an unseasonably warm level for a UK spring day, Zerox Recovery was there to provide much needed post-race recovery to the athletes pushing their limits.
A Day of Grit and Recovery
With participants ranging from seasoned competitors to first-time racers, the Hybrid NW Games featured a grueling format: nine rounds of 600m runs, each followed by functional workout stations, totaling over 5km of running, capped with a 200m sprint to the finish. It was the perfect setting for athletes to put their physical and mental endurance to the test, and for Zerox Recovery to showcase the power of ice bath therapy.
Ice Baths and Incredible Stories
Throughout the day, our Zerox Eclipse Ice Baths were a popular refuge for athletes seeking rapid recovery. We had the privilege of meeting a wide range of inspiring individuals, each with their own unique recovery stories. One standout was a remarkable woman who, after undergoing knee replacement surgery just 18 months ago, completed the race and embraced the cold therapy experience. Having practiced cold water therapy at home as part of her recovery journey, she described the post-race ice bath as a crucial part of her ongoing healing, a testament to her resilience and determination.
For many, this was their first introduction to the power of cold water immersion. Our team was on hand to guide these newcomers through the process, offering breathing techniques and encouragement to help them embrace the chill and maximize their recovery benefits.
A Competitive Spirit
The day also featured a fun, if slightly extreme, competition – the 'Zerox Recovery Who Can Last the Longest' challenge. The standout performance came from Connor Diskin, who braved an impressive 18 minutes in 3-degree water after already completing the physically demanding Male Doubles event. While we don’t recommend this kind of extended exposure, it’s clear Connor was up for an extra challenge!

As we look forward to future events, we remain committed to supporting athletes on their journey to peak performance and faster recovery. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just starting your fitness journey, Zerox Recovery is here to help you push your limits and recover smarter.
